Homeward Bound

Well today we leave Sydney, and are coming into Los Angeles for a stopover of some length, but it will give me a chance to catch up on my blogs. It will be a somewhat melancholy trip in that we are saying goodbye to a couple of extraordinary countries.  We had a wonderful time and I want to thank everyone for reading and I hope we passed the audition.

I had a blast writing this blog, and I hope everyone enjoyed following our adventures in Aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud, and Down Under in the land of OZ.

Return to Sydney

So we got into Sydney late in the evening, had a lovely last supper at a lovely Irish Pub we stumbled upon, only to discover that there were changes in our flights the next day. But Tracy, being the wizard that she is, got it sorted out, with a couple of twists. I can relate the whole story to you upon request when I see you all in person.  But suffice it to say it all worked out in the end.

Yes Pippin, it comes in pints

Uluru

The next stop on this worldwind tour was Uluru or Ayers Rock as it was known before the English naming convention was reset to the indigenous label.

We had a nighttime tour of an exhibit of lights, which changed colors right before your eyes.

The next morning we had a 6:00 AM tour that took us to a sunrise viewing overlooking the daybreak with Kata Tjuta as its target. It was interesting to learn how these two "rocks" appeared in the middle of nowhere. Uluru is one massive piece of rock, while Kata Tjuta is made up of thirty-six different formations
