Blue Mountains

We spent this entire day on a tour of the Blue Mountains, which get their name from the vapor the Eucalyptus trees give off that looks blue in the sunlight.  The three rocks you see were named in a dreamtime story about three sisters who were turned to stone to protect them during a battle but their father was killed and no one else could break the spell.

The Koala Bears we saw at a wildlife park sleep 16-20 hours a day because of the cyanide in the Eucalyptus leaves they eat.

  1. 1. So koalas poison themselves to sleep everyday? 2. I had no idea that is what an Emu's head looks like. 3. I love that there are so many out croppings around the world dubbed the "three sisters" and have similar accompanying mythology.
