Greymouth to Christchurch

This day we had to surrender our car in the town of Greymouth which is a starting point for a lot of tramps across the country.  The ride through the Alps was stunning, but I wonder who owns all those cattle and sheep that we saw and where do the people live? The midpoint of our journey was the Arthur Pass, the highest pass in New Zealand.

We arrived in Christchurch Station around 7:00PM and were transported to our motel to get ready for our HUGE excursion to Edoras (LOTR fans will understand). For all you unfamiliar fans, you'll see from the pictures tomorrow why it is so special.
